Fannish 5

Posted in books, friday5, geekage, idiot box, movies at 8:51 pm by Sarah

From Fannish5:

What 5 series/books/movies can you rewatch/reread time and again?

+ Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (sad, but true)
+ Stargate SG-1
+ LOTR: FOTR (technically ALL of the LOTR series, but especially FOTR)
+ The Dish
+ Stardust

To be honest, I can rewatch (time and again) most of the TV series that I own on DVD but the meme did only ask for 5 answers…

Also, in more news about how awesome my birthday month will be. Not only do I get The Dark Knight a bit over a week before my birthday and The X-Files: I Want to Believe the day before… Stargate: Continuum is releasing July 29! :w00t:

I AM GOING TO HAVE THE GREATEST BIRTHDAY MOVIE EXPERIENCE. :w00t:

So the question is… can I hold off on seeing TDK for a week (OMG) so I can do a geeky double whammy? Or do I say to hell with it, see it the weekend it releases then do a double whammy anyway? :D

Okay, let’s talk Nim’s Island. Holy freaking CUTENESS, Batman!! I totally forgot that I saw the trailer for this when I went and saw 27 Dresses a few weeks back, and I fell in love with it.

#1, it’s got Gerry Butler in it. HELLO. And Gerry being goofy and awesome and…

#2, it’s got Jodie Foster being awesome.

#3, it looks just plain FUN. I will SO be seeing this when it comes out (April 3 - WOOHOO!! That weekend is shaping up to be bloody kick-arse! Seriously, BSG S4, Nim’s Island AND Dr Who? :yahoo: ).

Anyway, have some trailers! First, the trailer I saw in the cinema. Then there’s the official trailer from the Apple site.

Trailers for upcoming movies

Posted in geekage, linky bits, movies at 9:24 pm by Sarah

Here are a few I’m looking forward to seeing this year:

Mamma Mia!
Have never seen the musical this looks like it’s based on but this actually looks kinda cool! Got the shock of my life to see no other than Lily Kane in the lead! *g*

Wanted
Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie with guns, and James McAvoy being hot. HELL YES.

10,000 BC
New one from Roland Emmerich. This actually looks really cool (mammoths FTW!) but now that I know Steven Strait is in the lead, I’m definitely seeing it!

Definitely, Maybe
Out of all of them, this is DEFINITELY the cutest and one I’d really like to see. Ryan Reynolds as a dad? D’awwww. And who’s the little cutie who plays his daughter? She looks familiar.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
UM HELLO. Yes of course I’m seeing this. Big duh factor. Plus we get some proper eye candy in the form of Ben Barnes - w00t!

Cassandra’s Dream
There’s only one thing you need to know about this - Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell are in it. YES PLEASE.

Leatherheads
George Clooney and John Krasinski in a movie about American football. Looks hilarious.

Forbidden Kingdom
I’m not usually big on the martial arts movies but even I would seriously consider going and seeing a movie with both Jackie Chan AND Jet Li. ;)

Plus, the MAJOR geek movie of the year…

Star Trek
No description needed. :D

And last but CERTAINLY not least, the movie I am waiting for most eagerly, which is released about a fortnight before my birthday - YES!!!!!!

The Dark Knight
HELL FRIGGIN’ YES. Christopher Nolan, I freakin’ LOVE you, man. If the movie is half as good as the trailer makes it looks, I’m going to die a happy fangirling death. :w00t:

OH. MY. HOBBIT!

Posted in geekage, movies, out and about at 7:15 pm by Sarah

THE MOST AWESOME NEWS THAT EVER WAS TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME!!!

In short, NewLine, MGM AND PETER JACKSON & FRAN WALSH are joining forces to co-produce The Hobbit… AND a sequel.

What could a sequel entail, you ask? TOR.N already have a few ideas thrown around.

Oh my god, this is EXCITING STUFF!!!! XD I honestly didn’t think it was going to happen, what with the lawsuit between PJ and NewLine. But it’s HAPPENING! *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!*

…I foresee a trip to NZ in my future. Well, I bloody hope that’s a trip to NZ I see in my future. LOL

A380 sex seekers brought back to earth. Dude. They’re putting wine/champagne on a double-bed that’s strewn with ROSE PETALS. Exactly what atmosphere are they going for here? :naughty: LOL

Yay Daniel Craig! He’s apparently scored a contract for four more movies as Bond. SWEET. :D

Heroes spinoff series Origins has been pulled. Nooooooooooooooo! :(

Police called to horror prank. What is wrong with people? Do they think that crap is funny? Wankers.

And in more ‘What the HELL is wrong with the world?!?’, Elderly man dies ‘in fight over garden hosing’ [2]. That is seriously freakin’ messed up.

Woman’s ’small penis’ slur from ad leads to road rage. And the guy looks even MORE like an asshat for his response! BTW, the ad [found here] is great. Well done RTA. *snort*

Doberman saves girl and kelpie saves woman from snakes. That is unbelievably AWESOME. Dogs are my favourite kind of people. The story about the Doberman, in particular, is amazing considering the background.

One last link I’ve been meaning to post. Excellent opinion piece written by Justin Monjo (ex-Farscape writer) about the upcoming election in Australia. Great work, Monj.

I am so seeing this!

Amy, you might have already seen this post on ohnotheydidnt but anyway…

Details for the new Pixar movie, Wall-E.

This is SO FREAKING CUTE. The teaser trailer was interesting in that it gave the backstory where the creators came up with the idea (at the same lunch that they brainstormed A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc, and Finding Nemo - dude!) but the actual trailer itself is GOLD. The Pixar logo segment at the beginning really is priceless, but I think my favourite bit is the scene with the cockroach.

I can’t help it, but I totally “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!”ed. Too cute.

I have a new hot!boy to lust after. His name is Charlie Cox and he is BEAUTIFUL.

Yes, I have seen Stardust and I LOVED it. Two thumbs up from me - I definitely recommend you see it (and enjoy the yumminess that is Charlie Cox with long hair!) Seriously, it’s a GREAT movie - fantasy, romance, lots of good stuff. :) Oh, and a cast of thousands.
