I was thinking today that I really need to ‘geek up’ my wardrobe. So started the search over sites like ThinkGeek, Make U Smile Tees, Threadless and a million CafePress stores for geeky apparel.
I have just found THE shirt that I must have.
I’m thinking I should wear this to work at LEAST once a week…

From FridayFiver:
1. Favorite pastry?
I’m assuming this means finished pastries and not just varieties of pastries? In that case, chocolate eclairs. Especially from Beckett’s Gourment Pies in West Tweed Heads. To. Die. For.
2. How do you like to waste time?
Ha! By doing any number of things. Watch DVDs or TV, read fic, surf aimlessly. Queen of Procrastination!
3. How would you describe your complexion?
Fair. Very fair. (Bloody Pommy genes…)
4. What do you hang on to that you should really get rid of?
*snort* God, all sorts of things. I’m a hoarder extraordinaire. How about half the ‘mementos’ left over from primary and high school?
5. What is the last thing that made you hurt?
Probably that migraine I had starting last week…
And from last week’s: Read the rest of this entry »

Two things from today.
1) From FoxSports:
FORMER Australia coach Eddie Jones was embroiled in bitter verbal warfare with ARU chief John O’Neill after flying to South Africa to assist the nation’s World Cup campaign. Read more…
What John O’Neill’s response really should have been was “Please! By all means! Use Eddie Jones. It makes our chances all that much better!” *snerk*
2) On the way home from dinner tonight (hamburgers in the park), Mum was pulled over for a random breath-test (which wasn’t really random considering the cops sped off past us once they were done and pulled over the dude ahead of us
). The funny part is that I’d been thinking about taking some Bailey’s down with us for a birthday nip… so bloody glad I changed my mind at the last minute and left it at home!
Oh, but that wasn’t the only funny part. Just before the cop asked Mum to blow in the breathalizer doobylacker, he goes “Do I know you?” Of course, Mum was thinking “Okay, so is this a come on line or do I look like a repeat offender to you?”
All she said was “I… don’t think so…” Tee hee!

Hee. I saw this coming. I can’t help it but I love this new show - Sea Patrol. I’ve never been HUGE on Aussie Drama (it took me 3 years to get into McLeod’s Daughters… Blue Heelers was really the only thing that I was into from near the beginning) but I’m hooked on this. Big time. (Seriously, I look forward to Thursday night’s each week like you have NO idea…)
I’m thinking it might have something to do with a bunch of very good looking guys on a navy boat (Buffer & the CO =
) but I could be wrong.
Of course, it’s not just the perve value (though, really, that’s more than enough!) - I’m actually enjoying the stories too, surprisingly.
And tonight I found this: Sea-Patrol.com.
Don’t have to contemplate creating a fansite now. Heh. There’s a message board, too. *rubs hands together* Helloooo, fandom!
The only thing is that there doesn’t appear to be much of an online presence anywhere else… though, to be fair, the show has only aired 3 episodes.
Anyhoo, NineMSN is doing the decent thing and offering the pilot (ie first) episode up for download - free. That’s available here. IE is needed to download because NineMSN doesn’t like Firefox.
The 1500kbps file is 557mb and the 800kbps file is 233mb.
More info can be found on the Sea Patrol wiki page.

And here are the pictures. God I would love to be out there now taking shots - the light is so much better than this morning, when it was really muted and overcast. Anyhoo.

Just got back from seeing the Kitty Hawk and godDAMN that was awesome. It was FREEZING at Pinkenba but so worth making the trip. Absolutely exhilirating, despite the fact all I did was take photos.
But just being so close (right across the river) and it was so HUGE…
What can I say - I’m a plane junkie. And big boat junkie. Hee.
Photos to come soon when I’ve resized and cleaned them up a bit. (Some were a smidgeon blurry because I was shivering - it was THAT cold. LOL)

Your Score: English Genius
You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 86% Expert!
You did so extremely well, even I can’t find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don’t. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you’re not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!
Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!
For the complete Answer Key, visit my blog: http://shortredhead78.blogspot.com/.
D’oh! So close. I went and checked the answer key - I only answered one question ‘wrong’ (well, it was partially right) in the Expert section, but actually lost 2 points on it because it was a multiple choice.

Sent this in an email from Mum today. My inner geek thought this was awesome.
For those worried with energy consumption and all its downsides. When your screen is white, being it an empty word page, or the Google page, your computer consumes 74 watts, and when its black it consumes only 59 watts. Mark Ontkush wrote an article about the energy saving that would be achieved if Google had a black screen, taking in account the huge number of page views, according to his calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved.
In a response to this article Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with a lower energy consumption, check it out.

Or is that ‘The Wobblies’?
Yeah, that’s probably my personal favourite from a couple of years back. Tee hee!
It shouldn’t amuse me so much watching the ads for this weekend’s Bledisloe Cup decider. They have Stirling Mortlock say “We’re going to New Zealand to bring BACK the Bledisloe Cup.”
My response? “Yeah, good luck with that.”
For all that our form is improving, I think we’re still quite a ways from beating the All Blacks on their home turf. I mean, really.
(It’s not being pessimistic, it’s being realistic!
)
