Dilbert

Posted in amusing at 9:47 pm by Sarah

Had a bit of a chuckle over today’s Dilbert strip.

I’m sure I’ve seen that… or in reverse. Like, say, someone getting in super-early and leaving early? ;)

From FridayFiver:

1. Do you dance?
Ha. NO.

2. Would you consider yourself religious?
Not by any conventional religion. I have my own thoughts on the matter.

*snort* I try not to.

4. When is the last time you asked for forgiveness?
Real forgiveness? I honestly have no idea…

5. Friday fill-in:

Job stuff

Posted in real life at 7:00 pm by Sarah

So after all the angst I’ve been feeling about the new job (”Oh god, I don’t know what I’m doing. I can’t do this. They’re asking me something I don’t know/can’t do! I don’t have time to handle all this!” *hyperventilates*) surprisingly I’m feeling much calmer. I think it’s due in part to today’s events.

Soph left today. I am going to miss her TONNES. Already it’s kind of weird not having her there. I can’t imagine what the rest of the week (and the following weeks) will be like. But fingers crossed (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) that Lis gets one of the AO5s because that would be AWESOME!!!

Anyway, the reason why I’m less stressed and angsty. Bren called Soph and I into the office and told us that I would be taking over Soph’s AO4 (for the next month, to start with) if I was happy to do that. :) On top of that, they were bringing another person in to do the AO3 duties so I wouldn’t have to worry about all the general admin stuff that leaves me feeling way out of my depth. \o/

So it’s all good. I got the stuff signed and emailed off that needed doing (bar one thing that I’m waiting on from Ra) and I’m doing the handover with Lauren (the AO3) tomorrow.

But I’m still applying for the QBuild job because… well, Sunshine Coast.

Oh, and I have news about our current lease with the real estate agent but I’m still too steamed to talk about it. I don’t want to ruin my better mood re: the job stuff. *nods*

HA! YES.

While I was still fiddling with this Selection Criteria for the QBuild job I was just hit with a BRILLIANT idea… why not boost my referees section by asking people I’ve worked with (and provided a service TO) if they wouldn’t mind acting as a secondary ref?

In particular I’m thinking Carolyn (who’s with SGS, QB) and Carmel (who’s with Brisbane Metro Region out at Cannon Hill). Carolyn not so much - she was CSQ but in another area, so didn’t really have contact with me in a supervisor capacity - but Carmel. Definitely Carmel as she was in my particular area at CSQ AND as a Reviewer, she was able to oversee and check my work. Plus, I’ve also been in contact with her since her move to QBuild, ‘providing a service’ on behalf of CSQ.

Excellent idea, no? :D

Obviously Caroline is still my first ref and would be the best option considering she was my Team Leader… I’m just wondering who else I can use. Maybe Irene? (She did send me, Michelle, Elaine and Jess that email…)

I’m in looooooove!

I have a new hot!boy to lust after. His name is Charlie Cox and he is BEAUTIFUL.

Yes, I have seen Stardust and I LOVED it. Two thumbs up from me - I definitely recommend you see it (and enjoy the yumminess that is Charlie Cox with long hair!) Seriously, it’s a GREAT movie - fantasy, romance, lots of good stuff. :) Oh, and a cast of thousands.

Lunch with girlies!

Posted in out and about, real life at 9:16 pm by Sarah

Well, tomorrow I’m having lunch with Clarkey, Soph, Sandon and Sonita. I can’t BELIEVE this is the last time for at least 12 months that we’ll all be together. :( I’m gonna miss Soph something terrible once she’s gone, but fingers crossed Elisa applies for and gets the AO5’s going in our area! That would be AWESOME.

Hey Clarkey, if I get this job at QBuild that I’m applying for, you’re MORE than welcome to my AO3 at DME… ;)

I’m so weak…

Posted in internets at 8:17 pm by Sarah

I’ve caved to the peer pressure!

I have a Facebook account.

Don’t look at me like that! I resisted MySpace all this time… I knew it was only a matter of time before I caved to The Next Big Fad. :P

So any friends/family who are reading my blog who haven’t got a Facebook account, go join! Yes, if I’m going down I’m taking all of you with me!

In its defence, it’s a great networking tool. It’s amazing how many people from school I’ve managed to find since joining up. *trips down Memory Lane*

Australia vs Wales: Full-time

Posted in sport at 1:48 am by Sarah

AUS 32 - 20 WAL

Well, all I’ll say is that we were BLOODY lucky to pull that one off. Especially when we were down two players at one point. :frustrated:

The Welsh played well, though there were moments of sheer scrapiness that I could barely believe my eyes.

The ‘honour guard’ and clapping our players off the ground was a really nice touch though.

As much as I’m loathe to admit it, that kick and then subsequent try from Latham was a brilliant piece of football. He was rather lucky that the bounce went the way it did. If it had gone in the other direction the outcome could have been quite different!

BTW, WTF was Sharpey yellow carded for??? That didn’t make ANY sense. Fucking ref.

Australia vs Wales: Half-time

Posted in sport at 11:57 pm by Sarah

AUS 25 - 3 WAL

Have to say I’m REALLY enjoying this game against the Red Dragons tonight. I’ve been very impressed with how our guys our playing - Berrick Barnes in particular!! I thought his first test last week against Japan was a bit of a fluke with his 2 tries but he actually looks like he’s going to be a great little player. Great placement of the ball and that drop goal!!!! Really looking forward to seeing what happens with his career if this start is anything to go by. :D

Had my heart in my throat for a bit with Mortlock being taken off for that shoulder. That’s ALL we bloody need after already losing Gerrard and Larkham to injury. :( But he looks to be alright at the moment so fingers crossed we don’t lose any more players - especially one as important to the team as Mortlock!!

One wish? That Latham would learn how to find touch when kicking the ball. SERIOUSLY. Why the hell do they keep giving him the ball??????

ETA: Also, that NZ match vs Portgual? HOLY OUCHIES for Portugal, Batman. I was considering watching but I don’t think I could bear to… *wince*
